Every transportation plan is considered individually. Availability depends on the destination, distance, weather, animal health, age, applicable laws, required documentation and the availability of a qualified transporter.
Transportation is not automatically available for every placement. A delivery date is confirmed only after the applicant has completed our screening process, verified legal ownership and prepared an appropriate home.

The appropriate method is selected according to distance, animal welfare, legal requirements and transporter availability.

Where available, a qualified animal transporter may provide temperature-conscious ground transportation to an agreed meeting point or eligible destination.

In some cases, an individualized domestic transport plan may be discussed. This depends on route, regulations, scheduling and the needs of the animal.
Transportation is arranged only after placement approval and confirmation that all relevant requirements have been met.

Domestic monkey transportation may be affected by federal, state and local regulations. Some jurisdictions prohibit private primate ownership, while others require wildlife permits, inspections, registration, insurance or specific enclosure standards.
The receiving owner must independently verify all laws at the final destination. Approval in one state does not mean ownership is permitted in every county or municipality within that state.
Visit our Permit Assistance page for guidance on the questions to ask your local authorities.
The welfare of the animal remains the first consideration when determining whether and how transportation can occur. Plans may be postponed or changed because of extreme temperatures, severe weather, route disruptions, health concerns or other conditions that could affect safe travel.
The travel enclosure should be secure, ventilated, appropriately sized and designed to reduce the risk of injury or escape. Food, water, observation and handling plans should be appropriate for the journey and the individual primate.
Federal information regarding humane animal transportation in commerce is available through the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service .
The new environment should be completely prepared before the primate begins its journey. Waiting until arrival to purchase housing, food or enrichment can create unnecessary stress and safety risks.
Helpful general veterinary-owner resources are available from the American Veterinary Medical Association .
The approved owner should remain available throughout the confirmed arrival window. Identification and any agreed documentation may be reviewed before the animal is released. The receiving owner should inspect the travel enclosure and follow the provided transition instructions.
The primate should be taken directly to its prepared environment rather than exposed to unnecessary visitors, noise, handling or additional travel. The owner should also follow the agreed veterinary examination requirements.
Transportation cost is not fixed for every placement. It may depend on mileage, route, transporter fees, fuel, required stops, documentation, weather-related adjustments and the needs of the individual animal.
A transportation estimate should be provided only after the destination and eligible delivery method have been reviewed. Payment instructions, scheduling details and the agreed handover location should be documented clearly before travel.
Premier Primates does not arrange international importation of nonhuman primates as pets. Prospective owners should not rely on offers claiming that a pet monkey can simply be imported into the United States through an ordinary pet shipping service.
Current federal importation information is available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention .
